CONTROLLED EXPLOSIONS
CONTROLLED EXPLOSIONS
NEIGHBORS EVACUATED

I'm tom kenny.

And, i'm veronica jean seltzer.

First, he kept patients away from uk's e-r yesterday in an all day bomb scare.

Now, he's keeping some of his woodford county neighbors... out of their homes.

The f-b-i...the a-t- f...and a bomb squad were there yesterday as u-k police arrested 44- year-old bryan carroll...saying he had guns and explosives in his car parked outside the emergency room entrance.

That's when his neighbors on aberdeen road in versailles were evacuated from their homes.

...and they've been kept out all day as experts do controlled explosions at carroll's home.

Abc 36's danielle saiita spoke to some of his neighbors and has the new information we're learning today from court documents.

It's tonight's top story at five.

Bryan carroll's neighbors are annoyed to be out of their homes...sure...but they also say they want what investigators are doing here...done right so everyone will be safe.

...and it's been loud.

I've heard several explosions here throughout the day as the f-b-i does these controlled explosions at carroll's house.

The agency hasn't said what it's exploding or how much of it there is.

But we have learned a lot of new information today about carroll's arrest yesterday outside u-k hospital.

He faces several state and federal charges...including being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun...resisting arrest...and using a weapon of mass destruction.

Ambulances were told yesterday to stay away from u-k's emergency department ...and to take passengers to the v-a instead...as police went looking for carroll yesterday morning around ten.

Officers say versailles police alerted them he'd be there visiting his mother...and was wanted and dangerous.

Court documents show officers were monitoring him in the e-r and three were waiting for him when he left.

An affidavit says he tried to run and get into his car...where his father was sitting.

Two officers took him to the ground and cuffed him as he struggled.

That affidavit also says officers found two handguns in his waistband...and inside the car...two long guns...a large amount of ammunition...and a "suspicious looking item made of paper and tape" that looked like a bomb.

That's when police shut down the area for about four hours while officers say they found three other handguns and four explosive devices.

We spoke to a witness yesterday who really put all this into persepctive...saying his car was parked right outside the e-r and a lot of people could've been hurt...either those in the e-r at the time or those who needed to get there for specialized care...and couldn't.

It certainly inconvenienced people...and still is today.

Or any future info we know ### we're also learning today this isn't the first time carroll
