‘Gun battle’ breaks out between off-duty Los Angeles police officer, man who stole his weapon

Authorities say the officer entered an underground parking garage from an apartment to find the suspect sitting in his vehicle and wearing his bulletproof vest.

The two then exchanged several shots.
