Time lapse shows how effective leafcutter ants can be

Leaf cutter ants are ants which use their strong mouth tools to cut plant leaves, flowers and fruits into small pieces and transport it into their nest, in this case a leaf of Syringa vulgaris.

There, however, they do not feed on the plant parts but grow a mushroom from which the whole colony feeds.
