Halo: Combat Evolved (also known as Halo: CE, Halo 1, or simply Halo) is a first-person shooter and military science fiction video game developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios.
The first game in the Halo franchise, released on November 15, 2001 as a launch title for the Xbox console, it is considered the platform's "killer app".[9] Microsoft released Windows and Mac OS X versions of the game in 2003.
The game was later released as a downloadable Xbox Originals on the Xbox 360.
Halo is set in the 26th century, where the player assumes the role of the Master Chief, a cybernetically-enabled super soldier.
