Chinese animal lovers are fighting to save outdoor house cats and urban strays from meat traders, who snatch the felines from the streets and sell them in underground markets in areas including Guangdong province and neighbouring Guangxi in southern China.
"If I disappear and stay silent, who will save the cats from this miserable situation?" says Han Jiali, whose cat Dabai was taken from her Shanghai home last year.
Han's hunt for her beloved pet led her to uncover the illegal supply chain in the region surrounding Shanghai.
