"Rebecca" is a psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel of the same name.

The story follows a young and inexperienced woman (Joan Fontaine) who marries the wealthy widower Maxim de Winter (Laurence Olivier).

Upon arriving at her husband's grand estate, Manderley, the new Mrs. de Winter becomes overshadowed by the lingering presence of Maxim's first wife, Rebecca.

The spectral presence of Rebecca, maintained by the sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Judith Anderson), haunts the mansion and threatens the happiness of the newlyweds.
