Covid strain first detected in India to be called 'Delta' variant: WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday announced Greek alphabetical labels to identify different strains of Covid-19 that have emerged across the world.The global health body said that the Covid variant that first emerged in India, also known as B.1.617.2, will now be called the "Delta" variant.Similarly, the variant from the United Kingdom has been labelled as "Kappa".
