Supreme court sends notice to all states on cow vigilantism

The Supreme Court on Friday sought response from all states on fresh claims by the women's wing of CPI that hate crimes and alleged lynching of Muslims by cow vigilante groups are increasing across the country despite the SC taking cognisance of its PIL on the issue three months ago. Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for National Federation of Indian Women, informed a bench of Justices B R Gavai, Arvind Kumar and P K Mishra that "people transporting meat and cattle" are being thrashed by vigilante groups and then police registers FIRs against the injured persons, making them accused.
