Four Covid deaths, 702 fresh cases in a day

India records four more Covid-19 deaths in 1 day, bringing the total to Karnataka, Kerala, Bengal, and Delhi. The daily tally of infections is 702. The current surge in cases is suspected to be caused by a new sub-variant JN.1, first detected in Kerala and now found in eight states. Most Covid cases have mild symptoms, resulting in hospitalizations. The national recovery rate is 98.8%, and over 220 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered.
