(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Apr. 24 (Petra) � Forty-nine new deaths and 1,259 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Jordan on Saturday.With today's fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 8,563 and 700,423 respectively, since the outbreak began in March of 2020, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.Amman saw 525 new infections followed by Irbid 328, Mafraq 77, Balqa 52, Karak 51, Madaba 46, Jerash 42, Zarqa 41, Tafileh 39, Aqaba 23, Ma'an 22 and 13 in Ajloun.The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 197, while 106 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.According to the brief, the total number of recoveries recorded Saturday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 3,340, bringing the total to 664,772 since the outbreak began.Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 1,841.With regard to testing, 11,848 tests were conducted Saturday, 10.63 per cent of which were positive.
