While Delhi tops the list of theft-prone Indian cities, other cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata have also witnessed many vehicle thefts in recent years. In Delhi, there are around 105 cases of vehicle theft every day. To add more, there were specific days in 2023 when the number of thefts was higher: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Regarding the most stolen cars in India, Maruti Suzkui's WagonR tops the list. The Maruti Suzuki cars account for 47% of the total stolen cars. It can be because this car in India is the most demanded. The other cars on the list of the top stolen cars are the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Grand i10, and Maruti Swift Dzire.
*The Most Stolen Bikes in India*
As per Acko's latest reports on vehicle thefts, bikes are stolen 9.25 times more than cars. The most stolen bike in India is the Hero Splendor and the others on the list include the Honda Activa, Honda Dio, Hero Passion, and Royal Enfield 350. The report shows that Hero bikes are the most stolen mainly because of the higher resale value of Hero bikes, and the market for its spare parts is also very lucrative. In Haryana's Gurugram alone 60% of the total bikes stolen are of Hero brand, namely Hero Splendor, Hero Splendor Plus, Hero CD Deluxe, and Hero HF Deluxe.
