U.S. Says Melting Arctic Is Helpful For Trade
Gizmodo reports this week the U.S. refused to sign a declaration acknowledging the threat of climate change to the Arctic, in a meeting of the Arctic Council in Rovaniemi, Finland.
Radio Free Europe said it’s the first time since the council was created in 1996 that it hasn’t been able to put out a declaration.
The Arctic Council comprises nations with borders in the Arctic and indigenous groups who live in the region.
