HELMET CAMERA FOOTAGE OF "FLYING SOLDIER", FRANKY ZAPATA, IN AIR, SHOWING FRANCE'S NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION FROM ABOVE STORY: French inventor and "flying soldier" Franky Zapata took France's National Day celebration to new heights on Sunday (July 14), stealing the show by riding a jet-powered flyboard over the Champs Elysees.

Helmet camera footage captured by the 40-year-old, who has already flown during events including the Cannes Film Festival and the Singapore Grand Prix, showed tanks and military personnel on the iconic avenue as officials and audience watched.

Zapata flew on the "Flyboard® Air," a device of his own invention, having received a €1.3 million ($1.5 million) grant from the French army for its military development, according to media reports from 2018.

Zapata is scheduled to fly over the English Channel on July 24, tackling the 560-kilometre stretch of water before landing in England.
