"Ole, ole, ole, ole:" Celebrations at Shane Lowry's Home Golf Club As Irishman Wins Open Championship
Ireland’s Shane Lowry sealed his first major victory at the Open Championship on Sunday, July 21, sparking celebrations at Royal Portrush, where the event was held, and at his hometown golf club roughly 200 miles away.
Fans crammed into the bar of the Esker Hills Golf Club in Tullamore, County Offaly, breaking into chants of “ole, ole, ole, ole” when it became clear Lowry was on the march to victory.
Lowry spent his teenage years playing and practicing at Esker Hills, according to Irish broadcaster RTE.
