Smoke Billows From Wreckage After Plane Carrying Dale Earnhardt Jr and Family Crashes

Former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr, his wife, Amy, and their young daughter, Isla, were taken to a local hospital after the plane they were on crash-landed at Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee on Thursday, August 15.

Earnhardt’s sister, Kelley Earnhardt, tweeted: “I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon.

Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

We have no further information at this time.

Thank you for your understanding.” Ashley Reece streamed video of the scene at the airport via Facebook Live.

In the comments, she said she works near the site where the plane crashed.

A woman in the video can be heard describing the location where the plane crashed as near highway 91.

Isla, Earnhardt’s daughter, was born on April 30, 2018.

Earnhardt Jr, described by The Tennessean as a NASCAR legend, is the son of Dale Earnhardt, who died in a crash at the Daytona 500 in 2001.

Earnhardt Jr retired in 2017 and is now a race broadcaster.
