UW-La Crosse approves new major for computer engineering

Of regents approves a new bachelors degree for uw- la crosse.

The bachelor of science in computer engineering degree comes in response to interest from incoming students ... along with employers.

The program will teach students to engineer computer hardware systems ... and develop software.

The new major must be given the green light by the higher learning commission ... the university's overall academic accrediting agency.

If approval goes as scheduled... the first majors would start in the fall of next year.

The u-s bureau of labor statistics projects the job outlook for computer engineers is expected to grow by 10 percent from 2016 to 2026.
