LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ) - The Coronavirus has caused for sporting events across the world to be postponed or completely cancelled.

Sports director bryan kennedy explains why.

A marathon....26 point 2 miles... wisconsin native and current lexingtonian amy dalibor has been training since early december...to run the kentucky derby festival marathon in late april though canceled due to the coronavirus.

She's still hitting the pavement though.

With likely unwanted motivation.

Amy dalibor, marathon runner "i decided to run because my mom was tested positive for covid-19.

She's back home in wisconsin in a hospital by herself."

So now amy is doing what she knows best..running, but it's also what her parents would want.

Dalibor "my parents love to watch me run.

It's something they've taken a lot of pride in.

It's something that brings me joy and them something to be proud of."

The tears..sweat and cramps...dalibor wasn't in this alone.

For that 26 point 2 miles she had friends from her gym crossfit maximus join in the race while of course practicing social distancing.

Amy sandlin, friend/runner "in a marathon, you always hit a roadblock where you just want to quit and we were there for her and got to support her.

It was amazing."

Those friends a big reason why...after four hours and 37 minutes, dalibor was able finish the race.

Nat sound cheering "go amy!

Let's go amy!"

Dalibor "it was the best thing ever.

Crossfit maximus has the most amazing community i've ever been a part of.

I would not have made it even halfway if i not would've had people running behind me."

After the race...6 feet apart of course...her friends there to congratulate her, but also make sure she knows they are there to support her...physically...and emotionally.

Dalibor "to say that i was able to accomplish it if or when she passes from this, it just meant a lot to me to have her know that i was running for her and thought about her the whole time that she had something to be proud of.
