Now that the Governor has ended the school year, local school leaders figuring out how to wrap it all up.

We talk to the Superintendent in Bradley County.

Lee recommended that schools in tennessee remain closed for the remainder of the academic year.

Since then many schools in our area are following his recommendation.

News 12's joeli poole spoke with bradley county director of schools to explain what this new announcement means for local school systems. schools all over the united states have been closed since march due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Recently, governor bill lee asked for all schools in tennessee to stay closed for the remainder of the year.

This means school will continue online and at home bradley county director of schools, dr. linda cash says that administrators are working as fast as possible to decide what the next steps will be.

Dr. linda cash/bradley county director of schools it's looking at the calendar and setting some firm dates for ending grade,opening up opportunities for students to return textbooks and computers.

Cash says they will continue to help feed the children of the county for as long as possible.

Dr. cash "the food right now would be scheduled for the last day of the year which is on the calendar now.

I think its the 22nd.

So it would be scheduled through the regular calendar days and then we would move into the summer feeding programs that we do every summer."

As of now administrators say they still have their sights set on opening back up come august.

Officials say they have learned a lot from this closure.

Dr. cash "it has made us more aware of really where the kid function is all that electronic information.

Our teachers have more confidence with that and i think you see more of that being used in the classrooms."
