As Alabama gears up to reopen, local businesses are trying to navigate their own paths on the road to recovery.

Scenarios.

Breken terry is live after asking one business owner what he thinks?

>> breken terry: i'm standing in front of party at the next level and beyond these doors, if you were to walk inside there are large inflatable slides and obstacle courses and a ton of things that kids have a lot of fun playing on.

Now darryl higgins owns this business, and he says that it's a side job compared to his real coaching job.

But with this place being shut down he says it caused his family a lot of heartache because he uses a large part of this income to support his family off making money here.

>> so it's just totally wiped us out.

And then of course we still have to pay our bills and everything, just like we're operating and it's really been a tough time.

>> breken terry: darryl higgins said before alabama mandated it he shut down his business for safety reasons and refunded all the planned birthday parties.

He knows for his business help is not on the way.

>> we weren't able to get any help because we don't have full- time employees and that was one of the qualifications.

We didn't reach that.

>> breken terry: with no help from the government he says he's relying on reopening but has no idea when that will be or what regulations will be in place.

>> we're not sure what the rules will be but we're ready to do whatever they say we need to do to get back open.

>> breken terry: i talked with several mayors across the shoals monday.

They told me higgins story is similar to what they're hearing.

Small businesses are ready to open with safety measures in place.

Higgins explained some of his safety plan.

>> we've already talked about different steps we're going to do now making sure everything, when somebody comes through, is sanitized and cleaned down and we're going to make sure we do everything to take care of the safety of the people that come in the businesses.

>> breken terry: higgins told me he's still worried about his business opens back up because he thinks people will be afraid to come here because fears of the coronavirus are very real
