Salvation Army Having Food Pickup:

On tuesday, the salvation army on fulton ave.

In evansville will be providing food pickup for families affected by covi?19.

From 5 until 8, or until the food runs out.

We will be doing a drive through distribution of food.

These are for families that have been affected by covid related events, they've lost their job, hours have been cut.

Currently we have about 300 boxes of food that have been put together.

We hope we can get people in and out of here within a couple of minutes.

Now if you plan on coming by to pick up items, the salvation army has set up a process that adheres to social distancing and enables people to safely collect food.

The pallets of food are actually going to be in the parking lot here at the salvation army and there will be different stations.

So we are asking everybody to stay in their car when they come and so they'll pop their trunk.

We do ask people when they come to make sure that their trunk lid, their trunk is cleaned out or the back of their truck is cleaned out because we want to make sure that this is completely social distancing where nobody is touching anything.

We'll have like 6 different stations where people will stop.

The salvation army has regular food pickup and if the situation surrounding the pandemic worsens, they will consider having more pickups like this one.

This is an extra food distribution for those families affected by covi?19.

There's people behind on their rent and mortgage payments and utilities, if they can save money on that food bill, we want them to be able to do that and those are the people that we are truly wanting to help and to provide hope for their lives.

And if you are planning on picking up items you must bring an id.reporting in evansville, andrew garcia, 44 news.
