Superintendent Gustavo Balderas said the cuts come after Gov.

Kate Brown announced an expected $3 billion loss in state revenue.

Major budget cuts are on the way for school districts across the state -- including eugene's 4j district.

Kezi 9 news reporter michael sevren spoke to the superintendent to find out how they plan to weather the storm.

Sot: we talk about our north stars and are north stars are having a full school year for our kids keeping everybody who is employed, employed.

Superintendent gustavo balderas says the district's financial future is covered in red.

That's after governor brown announced an expected three billion dollar reduction in tax revenue.

That could leave 4j without 17 and half million for the next school year.

On top of that he says they're not sure if they will get student success funds next year.

Sot: it's a 31 million dollar swing from the positive to the negative.

It's a huge hit.

But balderas says that dollar amount could change.

They are waiting for more concrete financial infomation from the state.

Stand up the 4j budget committee is set to meet one week from tomorrow.

They plan to finizile the budget but balderas say they will have to update this summer once they know more.

But with these cuts, balderas says they are going to have to make some changes.

One major decision is the future of corridor's elementary.

It's an alternative school with neary 150 students from all over the county.

He says that program may have to close.

Something parent caitlin alcorn hopes doesn't happen.

Sot: you can't get some of these thing back.

If the corridor doesn't exist after this budget cycle it won't excist ever again.

Balderas says they plan to reopen school building in fall, but says that all depends on the virus.
