Camping is a popular outdoor summer activity across the midwest, but right now in minnesota with the coronavirus pandemic, there are still some stipulations.

As of the most recent executive order, only camping at "dispersed and remote camping sites" is allowed.

What does that mean?

In chester woods park, it means all of the common bunched together plots for camping right here are still closed.

According to kim pleticha with the minnesota dnr, a dispered and remote site is one that is far away from the next, almost so that you can't even reach it.

I asked tom eckdahl, manager of tom eckdahl: with the modern campground that folks know and come out here and use at chester woods, we have a restroom building in the center of it, we provide the firewood for it.

Again, the restrooms and campsites usually have an electric outlet or with a padded spot for a firepit and picnic table at each.

Are remote campsites again are not as accsessible.

Now funny enough, a boy scout recently built two remote sites here at chester woods.

Both of them are only accessible via canoe.

These sites are not yet camping ready, but are expected to be ready soon.

As of now, all other camp sites will open on june 1st.
