District officials showed parents and teachers three different plans for when students head back to school.

We can send our kids back to school in the fall -- but the state is warning that things will be very different -- action news now's christina vitale is live in butte county, christina -- what can families expect for a typical school day?

That's still up in the air for now hayley.

Chico unified district showed parents and teachers three different plans for when students head back to school.

The first plan would be to stay online only.

Jay marchantã assistant superintendent of cusd: distance learning are they going to being zooming and in and out and nobodys going to be coming to school the second mix of online and in person.

Marchant: im going to take some online classes and go to school for a couple classes maybe for the hands on classes and stuff like that the thirdn class learning only marchant: 70 percent of them said they want to go back to a traditional model but some of them are coming back and saying well we wanna make sure the traditional model is also safe.

But what does that look like?

Marchant: are we cleaning the classrooms what is that going to look like do people have to wear masks do teachers wear masks all those things are going to make it very difficult to happen the state superintendent made suggestions about schools reopening which include taking temperatures and social distancing.

Kevin bultemaã assistant superintendent business services: the challenges with a lot of the proposals that have been made they just aren't feasible i mean the idea of keeping 6ft apart in the classroom we've already spaced that out you'd only be able to get about 10 students in a classroom whereas currently we have 30 mike adamsãlives in chico - from magalia- granddaughter in pusd: i don't see how they can do that because there's too many students to break up for every class that would create two or three classes and i don't think they have teachers to do that bultema: having more sections of classes it would actually be challenged to hire more teachers but that wouldn't work when we're received cuts to our budget cuts that assistant superintendent of business services kevin bultema says could impact programs and jeopardize staffing marchant: obviously everything that we have in place right now we think our student and teachers need to have a good education but now we're being asked to cut up to 9 million dollars marchant told action news now he's worried how these measures will impact students.

Marchant: i know they're kind of getting used to it now when they have to go to a store when they're out but it's kinda something you're not used to with someone you look up to or you play with every day gary allen- from chico: it'd be nice to have them back to school easier on the parents somewhat but it's a danger too.

Lori dunbarã lives near chico: wearing masks it'll be a big adjustment for kids can it be done sure but is it going to be the best of all options probably not but you know i think educators find a way to make it happen # the state superintendent will be releasing school guidelines early in june.
