Safe and needed.

The bookmobile: 32-feet-long, handicap accessible, and outfitted with a mobile hotspot is used to deliver books and more to those in need in lafayette parish.and!

I'll be coming to a school near you!

We spoke with the coordinator all about it... at the lafayette public main library.

Outside na~ "for the last few weeks, we have't been able to take the bookmobile out."

A lot of regulars depend on this service, amy wander, lafayette librar's head of outreach services says.

"what w've been doing is a home delivery service that w're calling booking it to you' so, patrons can just call us and we will deliver up to 10 items to their house."

...but only for curbside delivery.... "starting next week, the book mobile will be back in action, so w're very excited about that.

W'll be back on the road...."

Though many of the events planned for the newly added mobile library have been cancelled, amy says, for the first time, the library will be working with area schools.

"starting with alice boucher, and carencro heights on monday and w're very excited to be working with them.

We heard that schools will not be open for anything this summer, not even the schoo's library...."

Northside high student, arianna horne says fortunately libraries are also open... "i used to come all the time, but this my second time since the corona.

You still gotta make sure yo're getting some type of learning in."

"we need people to keep reading.

I's a nice getaway you can go explore another world or go to another country, all while yo're reading a book."

With covid-19 precautions in mind... "...if a patron comes in and they do't have a mask and would like one, we have some free for them to have...."
