These are the most destructive protests eugene has seen in years.

Kezi 9 news reporter jacob roberts joins us live this morning from west 7th and jefferson street.

Jacob, this area suffered the brunt of the damage.

What does it look like?

Protestors took their frustration out on a lot of these buildings - particularly businesses.

You can see the broken glass from windows and doors.

Many of these stores have been looted.

Some protestors i spoke said while this is unforunate, it's a way to bring about change.

"we we're burning and looting in '92 and we'll be burning and looting tonight" overnight& frustration turns into destruction.

Nat- glass break after hours marching in the streets, police break up the protest revealing the damage.

Many of these commercial stores on west seventh with windows and doors smashed and murchandise looted.

Watch as this man drags another out of this west seventh starbucks to prevent more looting.

"these businesses aren't the issue" those wandering around after the protest taking in the damage..many disappointed in what they see.

Randy hyde says, "why do people break down and loot stuff.

That solves nothing.

That makes the exactly opposite point of why anybody was out here tonight" feet away, fire crews work to extinguish a blaze in dumpsters blocking part of the street.

These people came to the rescue, clearing debris from the road ..making way for traffic.

Graffiti and expletives line many of the downtown streets.

Bailey davis says, "watching them destroy these businesses made be come out here because somebody needed to says something.

Somebody needed to stop this"/"this isn't eugene.

This isn't who we are.

It's disgusting what happened out here tonight" as many pointed out today, this a particularly tough time for businesses to be attacked.

Many have been closed or limited because of coronavirus, and now have to deal with this.
