Kate wright is participating in a national walk to support those suffering from multiple sclerosis.
Her friend who lives in wisconsin, being one of them.

K: i figured, i have legs, i can run i can walk so lets do something.
M: kate wright started running 100-mile ultra marathons four years ago.
Around that time her friend allyson bright was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis - a disease that attacks the body's central nervous system.
This can cause the body to shutdown overtime and there is no cure.
K: allyson was my freshman college roommate and we st got to be really really good friends and we've stayed incdible friends since then.
When she got diagnosed a few years ago with ms, i wasn't really sure a lot about ms and so i did a little more research on it and i'm like wow this is like crazy, and it's crazy that people that young can be affected by it.
M: wright is running for the ms society virtual walk and fundraiser.
She says it not only brought an opportunity for her to support the cause, but to also make a long-overdue visit.
K: my friend allyson and i have kind of joked for probably about four years about me running to madison and then back in february i was thinking about how i wanted to go for this fundraising walk this year, i said, maybe i should just run to madison this year.
M: wright will be running through parts of indiana, illinois and finally ending in wisconsin.
Her goal is to raise two- thousand,750- dollars, which represents the 275 miles she'll be running.
She says this will be a seven day trip where she runs 40- miles a day.
K: i know that the pandemic has effected so many non- profits and with all of the national ms society's walks going virtual, i know that's had to have effected them.
M: the ms society provides treatments for current patients and is working toward a cure.
Wright is encouraging people to donate -- and as she makes her way through three states, she also encouraging people to join her run even if it's just a few miles.
K: i have seen so much in the last few months the community, like lafayette coming together helping people through this pandemic and this is just another way to keep helping people.
