We're told that on the property at 7th and Washington over half a million dollars in damages was done.

Alton baker park.

We have team coverage with julian mininsohn who spoke with health officials to see if the large gathering is potentially a setback to efforts to stop the spread of covid-19.

But first, kennedy dendy is live in downtown eugene to show us the extent of the damage and how owners are looking ahead to focus on what they can control.

Chynna, businesses in*this area and across downtown eugene are*still recovering after protests friday night...turned into destructive riots.

And i'm told that damages in this area alone at the building at 7th and washington... reached to over half a million dollars.

Some owners told me that a single window replacement will cost them over five thousand dollars...along with other expenses such as replacing inventory.

Some were able to defend their property, while others were left helpless and unable to control the chaos that escalated quickly into the early morning.

Brittany quick- warner with the eugene chamber of commerce said that the community has really stood together, offering up their resources to help those affected.

"the chamber has also had an outpouring of folks who said how can we help, what can we do to support these businesses and we kind of need to know from the businesses who were impacted, so if you are impacted, if something has happened, please feel free to reach out to us and we can help connect you to some of those folks who have already said that they want to help."

She says that what happened over the weekend was "unprecedented" for the community.

Her recommendation for if a similar situation were to arise is to: call the police immediately, document the damages and save footage from security cameras.

Coming up in the five o clock hour, hear from the manager of one business about what he says the next steps will be.
