Indiana Marching Bands Will Not Compete This School Year For A State Title.

Bands Can Still Practice And Play A School Functions As Long As It's Safe.

And as school officials debate over the safest way to re-open-- indiana's high school marching band competitions -- canceled.

((((nats ))))- "we just finished our second week of full rehearsals, we spent our first week practicing social distancing protocols" as local tri- state bands just hit the field to practice drills and learn new formations - the indiana state school music association announced that statewide marching band competitions are canceled this school year - ((((nats)))) dwight emmert has been an educator and band director for over 30 years with evsc - "i think we have already seen the kids be so resilient, the first thing i told kids was, you know this could our only rehearsals, or we might learn a whole show and never preform it, are you omk with that, and the kids were ok with that and they worked really hard" "school administrators say that band practice will be able to resume as normal, even though the competitions will not go on this year- they say that student moral is up, they are disappointed but they say the band will continue to play" (((((nats of music))))) "students are disappointed that we don't get to have a competitive season, yesterdays rehearsals, after they digested the news, they were excited to work, and exited to be together" (((nat))) many tri-state schools have already started band practice - school officials say it will be left up to each band program on how they preform social distancing - as each school building is set up differently - administrators say roughly 20 students have dropped out of marching band programs district wide - those students are allowed to return when they feel safe.
