A houston woman is speaking out after witnessing a high speed chase wednesday evening.

Wtva alexis jones spoke with a witness who shared her frightening experience.

Sylvia earnest said she was driving south on jackson street near the houston court house when she saw the driver rush past her.

Sot: "i just knew it was over for me like i thought he was going to hit me head on" sylvia said the man was speeding south on the wrong side of the road.

He squeezed in between her and a car in the turning lane and kept going.

Sot: "it was nothing but god that he got beside me and everyone else involved."

The driver's girlfriend was also in the car, sylvia doesn't remember seeing her.

Police said the girlfriend jumped out of the moving car before the chase ended.

Sot: "i see all these cops like flying behind him and that's when it clicked.

High speed chase" during the chase, a houston resident tried to stop the car with his garbage can.

After seeing this video, sylvia said she was happy she didn't try to intervene.

Sot: "that wouldn't of been the best thing to do" vo: sylvia also said she is grateful the police were eventually able to catch the couple.

"im thankful for them.

They're all amazing."
