We have the most up-to-date information for the re-opening of schools all across north alabama.
This morning, we're focusing on colbert county schools safety route.
Colbert county schools run 42 bus routes to get kids to and from school.
This year riding the bus will be a bit different, according to the district.
Students will have assigned seating and will load the bus back to front to cut down on students walking by each other.
They will then unload front to back.
Superintendent gale satchel told waay31 each bus will have a gallon of hand sanitizer on it by the bus driver so each student getting on must sanitize their hands.
She said if it's possible students will be spaced out too and bus drivers will wear masks.
Students are encouraged to do so as well.
Satchel said it wasn't practical to try and install plexi glass patricians separating each bus seat.
T's gonna be tricky.
It's going to be a challenge but the other part of that is that we've had some students that have decided to go to remote learning so our buses won't be as full as they normally would if they were with traditional learning.
Satchel said bus drivers will have new duties too like sanitizing the bus before, during, and after each run.
The deadline for parents to decide on virtual or traditional school has been extended the district is working on a final date parents have to decide.
