A West Lafayette resident is suing the City of West Lafayette and Mayor John Dennis over the city's recent mask mandate.

Dennis and the city of west lafayette according to court documents, resident michael bryant filed the lawsuit in the tippecanoe circuit court last wednesday.

He is arguing that the city's mask mandate is unconstitutional.

According to bryant's attorney, arie (are-ee) lipinski (luh-pin-skee), they hope to obtain a preliminary injunction, preventing the enforcement of the madate.

The case argues that public health guidance on the effectiveness of masks has been conflicted.

And there is not sufficient evidence to conclude that mask- wearing orders are an effective way to reducing the spread of covid-19.

Bryant alo claims there are less restrictive methods to stop the spread of the coronavirus which the west lafayette city council could adopt after a majority vote.
