This applies to hallways, bathrooms, elevators, lobbies, break rooms and other common spaces when you cannot maintain six feet of distance.

Face mask requirements in oregon are getting even tighter, as governor kate brown's mandate expands to include office work spaces.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy spoke to employees about how they feel about the change -- on day 3 of it being in effect.

Starting earlier this week -- face coverings are now required in private and public office spaces "that's the way it's been for months."

Ken rodgers is the owner of whitewater designs in eugene.

He said this level of safety has always been a priority since the pandemic hit... but now it'll be something that will*still require a high level of attention and reminding.

"people start to get a little bit sloppy.

They start to forget themselves.

This has been happening a drop in the bucket of time compared to how long everybody has lived without any of this.

So its expected ya know?"

Bridge: even when just walking down the hallway in your office, you will need to wear one of these because you just don't know when someone could be coming around the corner.

Also in breakrooms, bathrooms, elevators and other common spaces.

But of course this only applies when you cannot keep six feet of distance.

"sometimes i feel like im going out on a limb by saying we need to be diligent."

Rodgers said there are mask compliance officers near the offices and also in his store.

"we're doing very much the best we can and watching out for everybody and eachother and also me."

You*can remove your face covering briefly -- if someone's identity needs to be confirmed for visual comparison, like during interactions in banks or with law enforcement.
