I'm outside of baptist memorial hospital where physicians are already seeing coronavirus cases.

And they know those flu cases will soon be coming.

"flu season this year is going to be more difficult because of covid being so prevalent in the area."

Robert pitcock- er medical director trt:6 robert pitcock is the medical director of the emergency room at baptist union county.

He said the symptoms for the coronavirus and the flu are similar.

So if a patient has a persistent cough or a fever, doctors will test them for both viruses.

The doctor believes it will help if people get a flu shot.

Sot: "we want to limit the amount of flu cases that we do have because we are already seeing a lot of coronavirus cases" whether patients have either virus, custodians will thoroughly sanitize the room they were in.

The room will have to be set aside for 30 minutes before cleaning if they test positive for the coronavirus.

But pitcock added people can do a lot outside of the hospital through masking and social distancing.

Sot: "those are very important to limit the spread of coronavirus and the flu."

There's still no vaccine for the coronavirus, but hospital administrators plan to give flu shots to people at an event next month.
