Days.

In coronavirus news now--- several central kentucky students will start classes this morning---many without stepping foot in an actual classroom.

Fayette county public schools will be working online but they have two different options...that will allow them to eventually return to the acadmic building..

About a month ago--- the district sent out a survey asking families in the district if they would rather return to class..

The district says 34-thousand to 41- thousand families responded..

And only 9-thousand were interested in a virtual-only option.

The district decided to offer both non- traditional instruction... distance learning... and the virtual learning academy.

N-t-i...will allow students who want to phase back into the classroom when it is safe..

To do so.

But those using the virutal academy..

Will not return to the classroom at all this semester.

School leaders say the n-t-i program..

Is new..

And studys this semester will be different..

Than the end of the spring..

Because things have adjusted.

Every single student will have access to a chromebook for their studies...according to the district.

Hotspots will be provided for families..

Who may not have access.

### the state is now sharing the number of coronavirus cases..

In schools.

Right now the governor says there are 57 active student cases..

And 25 staff cases in k-12 schools right now..

This is all online..

On the state's coronavirus website.

Eight students and one staff member currently positive at lexington catholic .

One staff member diagnosed at pulaski county schools..

And two students at somerset independent in the county.

And one staff member at woodford county schools.

The governor says the virus is still aggressively spreading...which is why he still doesn't think it's safe for schools to open in person before september 28th.
