Now to wildfires burning across our region.

So far the butte- tehama-glenn lightning complex has burned more than 50 thousand acres.

Included in that complex - the elkhorn fire burning in tehama county.

The fire has burned more than 35 thousand acres - and is 25 percent contained.

In glenn county..

The august complex of fires is burning in the mendocino national forest..

It has charred 197- thousand acres and is now 17 percent contained.

The sheriff's office has lifted evacuation warnings for burrows gap south to the colusa county line, and from county road 306 east to black butte lake.

The "north complex" in lassen county has grown to nearly 50,000 acres with just 6 percent containment...and one thousand firefighters now fighting for control.

It includes the sheep fire near susanville... now at more than 27 thousand acres.

And the claremont fire... which has burned more than 18,000 acres with just 7 percent containment.

And in modoc county - the cold springs fire is now more than 65 thousand acres... and just 15 percent contained.

That fire is burning in the modoc national forest.

Evacuation orders are still in place for the blue lake and dodge reservoir camp grounds.

New this morning the chico city council approved the measure tuesday to allow cannabis shops in chico..

The vote was 5-2... cannabis shops will be limited to four right now... allowing only one store for every 25- thousand people shops can not be located within one thousand feet of schools...### it's day three of the four-day republican national convention.

Vice president mike pence will speak tonight.

His wife karen pence... and tennessee senator marsha blackburn are also scheduled to give speeches.

Others speakers include senator joni ernst of iowa... and white house counselor, kellyanne conway, who is scheduled to leave the trump administration next week.

Hurricane laura continues to intensify in the gulf this morning... the category two storm taking aim at the coast -- with landfall expected in the next 24-hours or so near the texas-louisiana border.

Time is running out to prepare for the hurricane...at least 20-million people are in its potential path.

The storm surge along the gulf coast is expected to be 9-13 feet..
