In and outside of school.

You're taking a live look at huntsville as city and health leaders are sharing their concerns with college students heading to the bars after they return to campus.

This comes after bars in tuscaloosa were shutdown for two weeks after photos and videos of people without masks at crowded bars went viral.

Waay 31's ashley carter joins us live now with why city leaders believe they won't have the same problem.

For the past month, bars like the one behind me have to stop serving alcohol at 11pm and mayor tommy battle says that's just one of the reasons we likely haven't seen a spike in cases in the county.

Huntsville hospital ceo david spillers says seeing pictures and video like this out of tuscaloosa - does make him worry about the number of coronavirus cases those communities may see in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Mayor battle says he has spoken to local bars and they know the severity of what can happen if they don't follow the guidelines.

Tommy battle, city of huntsville mayor: "our restaurants and lounges have taken this very seriously.

They understand this is a licensing issue.

Abc holds their license if they don't comply with it, abc will pull their license and every one of them that we have talked to or had conversation with have followed through very well on this."

Spillers says he does expect some campuses to see a spike in cases but he hopes it doesn't overwhelm the hospital systems. right now, the 11 p-m liquor ban at bars and restaurants is in effect for 120 days from august 1st, which is when it went into effect.

The ban can be lifted early or extended at any time.
