Oregonians can expect to see more relief, now that the white house has approved a major disaster declaration for the state.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy spoke to leaders across oregon today to find out where people should turn to find shelter safely.

Buch: "we are working 24 hours a day seven days a week, on this and we're trying to put as many resources together as we possibly can for evacuees."

As shelter has proven to be a major point of need right now, leaders are moving quickly to get everyone into a safe place, as soon as possible.

Buch: "we're working with a lot of local motels and hotels that have opened up for our evacuees, and i'm very grateful for them."

But if you are displaced, here's what you need to know, so you don't end up stuck with the bill.

You need to first*call the american red cross or show up at the eugene masonic lodge.

That's across from autzen stadium.

From there you will be paired to a hotel or motel or put on a waiting list.

Bridge: congressman peter defazio described the outpouring of community support as heartwarming.

He says the focus right now is on both temporary and long-term solutions for those who have been displaced.

On thursday, an emergency declaration was approved, after a request by governor brown.

Defazio: "that means that individuals have been displaced from their homes, can get in touch with the red cross, the red cross will provide them with vouchers for hotels and can also provide some food assistance."

But the aid doesn't stop there.

As a major disaster declaration was just approved by the white house on tuesday.

Defazio: "that will provide for longer term housing, potentially for housing reconstruction for, you know, for small business assistance in the communities.

For those small businesses that have been destroyed."

Now,*more federal aid will given to the state to help expedite the recovery process for those affected by the devastating wildfires.
