A new online tool designed to help track COVID-19 cases in Indiana schools is expected to be released by the end of the month.

The state tonight reporting 3 nearly 19-hundred students, teachers and other school employees have tested positive for covid-19 since the new school year began.

The department of health says it's logging the cases as part of a new online tool it will be releasing every week starting later this month.

The number of cases is expected to increase as more schools submit their data..but because reporting is voluntary it's not expected to be completely accurate.

So far..70 percent of schools have taken part.

Initial numbers show more than 11-hundred schools have reported no cases while more than 900 reported
