Free Turkey Givewaway 2020

A turkey giveaway was held in place of the annual LeRoy Page Thanksgiving dinner for 2020 due to COVID-19 modifications.

Thanksgiving is just four days away...and residents are getting their dinners prepared a little early.

Cars were bumper to bumper for the twenty-second annual leroy page free turkey giveaway.

Organizer mel johnson says the event is normally hosted as a dinner, but he and other volunteers opted for the turkey giveway to maintain covid-19 safety.

The giveaway was scheduled for early saturday afternoon but johnson says some families arrived hours before start time.

Ayers community outreach partnered with organizers to help supply over 200 turkeys.

The demand was so high that they ran out before their scheduled end time.
