The macon-bibb county transit authority is making sure those in need... have a way to get to the new warming shelter.

The 24-hour site opened wednesday at the former brookdale elementary school.

M-t-a says it will offer free rides to the center ... from the terminal station.... for anyone with a pass ... from one of the local support organizations.

The last bus will leave the station at 7:55 on week days... and 5:25 on the weekends.

Macon-bibb county is working with churches and other agencies to help with transportation.

The sheriff's office can also bring people to the warming shelter.

Several of the organizations are asking for donations to help run the shelter.

They need things like wash cloths, laundry detergent pods... gloves and more.

This week ... he's been collecting water, socks and toiletries for the shelter.

And he delivered the donations today.
