When the upper side of the Sun rises over the horizon in the east, the phenomenon is known as sunrise or arunika.
Sunrise is not the same as dawn, which is when twilight ends and the sky starts to get lighter (events of visible sunlight from late dusk to dawn).
Because to atmospheric refraction, even when the Sun is below the horizon, it can still be seen.
