Suspecting UP farmer to be gambler, 7 cops thrash him to death

A 48-year-old farmer in Bareilly district, India, was allegedly beaten to death by seven police officers who mistook him for a gambler. The farmer, Santosh Sharma, had multiple injuries on his body and slipped into a coma due to head injuries caused by a blunt object. His family accused the police of trying to hide the incident. After the family filed a complaint, seven officers, including the outpost in-charge, were suspended. An investigation will determine if the officers are guilty.
