Airstrikes leave 5 IS fighters dead in Iraq

(MENAFN) On Friday, Apr. 2 the Iraqi military stated that three airstrikes in Salahudin province north of capital Baghdad left five members of the extremist Islamic State (IS) outfit dead. The Iraqi army's gunships blasted an IS hiding place in a hunt operation in the al-Eith region, east of the provincial capital Tikrit, around 170 km north of the capital, noted a report by the media office of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC). JOC stated that the airstrike led to the death of three IS rebels and the demolition of a tunnel. On the other hand, the JOC stated in a different report that the international coalition aircraft launched two airstrikes, one in the al-Tharthar region in the western side of Salahudin province and another in the rocky area of Mteibijah in the eastern side of the province.
