'Avengers: Endgame' Writers Explain The 5-Year Time Jump

Comicbook.com reports **Avengers: Endgame** writers have explained why five years passed after the universe was erased in **Infinity War**.

Fans on social media expressed their surprise regarding the time jump after the movie hit theaters.

In a new interview with the Empire Film Podcast, the writers said they wanted to explore "the long term after effects of a gigantic loss." Jokingly they added that they couldn't do more than a 5 year time gap or they would be "taxing [the] visual effects budget." The writers added that they went ahead with the idea even after Marvel executives questioned the choice.
