Firefighters Rescue Schoolboy From Roof of 28-Story Building in Southern China
Firefighters in Yiyang, southern China, came to the rescue of an elementary school pupil on June 14 after the boy had climbed onto the roof of a 28-story building.
The boy was crouching on a narrow ledge when a firefighter was lowered down to help him to safety.
Firefighters said he had intended to jump to his death, but became paralyzed by fear.
Rescuers spoke to the boy to calm him, before he was rescued, the fire service said.
Chinese media said that the rescue took about 20 minutes.
The reasons for the suicide attempt were unclear.
