British naturalist David Attenborough, Britain's Princess Beatrice and the Duchess of Cambridge's brother James Middleton and his fiancee Alizee Thevenet were among the guests attending a special screening of new the documentary film "The Elephant Queen" at the Electric Cinema in London's Notting Hill on Thursday (October 17).

Veteran wildlife filmmakers Mark Deeble and Victoria Stone are behind the Apple TV+ movie, which is narrated by actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.

"The Elephant Queen" centres on Athena, a 50-year-old elephant, and her herd who are forced to leave their watering hole and embark on a dangerous journey to a faraway oasis.

Athena is a "tusker", a rare elephant whose tusks grow long enough to touch the ground.

The film follows Athena and her offspring as they face challenges - manmade and natural - along their trek to the dry-season refuge.

It took Stone and Deeble, who also served as the screenwriter and cinematographer on the project, four years to make the film, which they shot in Kenya.

"The Elephant Queen" will be released in select cinemas on October 18 before launching on Apple TV+ on November 1.
