Are being told they can decide when to reopen their schools.

On tuesday night.... the state's 172 school district superintendents and the kentucky department of education went over the guidelines for reopening schools.

Governor andy beshear recommended the schools prepare three plans... including opening early.

The department told superintendents the advantage to an early start would be getting instructional days in before a potential spike in covid-19 cases this fall.

The superintendents were also told it is imperative to make plans to accommodate students with disabilities.
