Diventi.... here in the tri- state....the largest protests happening right here-- in the heart of the river city.... that's where we find 44-news reporter erran huber who is live in downtown evansville tonight--- erran--how did things unfold earlier today?

Despite some wild threats and rumors on social media leading up-- tonight sighs of relief after a day full of shouting.

As those large crowds stayed peaceful--and largely away from police.

"black lives matter!"

Chant for saadia miles, speaking out today is a family affair.

"we're tired.

I'm raising up two beautiful black women.

And this can't keep happening.

After the whole world's seen george.

It's changed the dynamic of how we're moving today."

She joined others in bringing their kids down to the waterfront in peaceful demonstration saturday afternoon.

Spreading a message not just across the city, but through generations.

"i think it's just sad that the racism is going around."

"we've had a lot of negativity out here.

And that's been hard to deal with.

We're still not getting the support we need.

And that's why we're still standing here.

We're still fighting.

This is all a learning lesson."

For their family, coming out isn just about a single issue.

"we have to stop, and it's not even about the police at this point either.

We have to stop the gun violence against us too.

We have to love each other for everybody to love us as well."

As crowds continued to gather throughout the afternoon-- at the four freedoms monument before marching to the ford center.

Other mothers in the group of hundreds--also shared how the last moments of george floyd brought them out.

I'm a momma.

I've got four kids but i have two black grandkids.

It just bothers me.

He cried for his momma at the end.

It's just sad.

It's horrible.

Saadia miles--and her daughters-- echoed that idea.

"we wanna live.

This is why we're here.

That's why my kids are here.

We want to live.

We want the same respect we give to everybody else."

As their voices-- and others from across the city-- echoed through the streets.

I can't breathe chant even with all the barricades-- the protesters stopped well short of the civic center-- and away from any confrontations in front of police headquarters.
