If you live in rural Lane County, you can soon get tested for COVID-19.

Now back to that testing in some of our smaller communities in lane county.

Kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome is live in downtown eugene to explain how it will work.

Renee -- anyone who feels like they should be tested will be allowed to get a test, symptoms or not.

They are prioritizing first responders and people who have been working throughout the outbreak ... this also comes after a recent spike in cases here in eugene this weekend where 8 out of 11 new cases were from people in their 20s and one was a teenager.

The first site will be tomorrow in oakridge from 10 am to 1 pm at the first baptist church.

Next will be in mapleton -- on saturday, from 10 am to 12:30 pm at mapleton food share.

Next month, on the 15th and 16th... they'll have testing in florence and cottage grove.

"we really encourage folks who do not live in that area not to attend these testing sites.

We are looking at more testing sites in a similar function in the eugene springfield area... that will happen... so please do not travel to one of these sites to be tested.."

Although you will not be turned away for not bringing insurance... they ask that if you have insurance please bring it with you... as jason davis said, this sort of testing will be rolled out in the eugene springfield area as well.

We just don't know when or where yet.
