suny oneonta announces plan to bring students back

SUNY Oneonta released guidelines for bringing students back to campus for the Fall semester.

Dr. Barbara Jean Morris said the college studied 7 different scenarios before ending up with the one they have now.

To.

"we've been planning for weeks and months as far as scenario planning for the fall."

Dr. barbara jean morris tells me the college came up with 7 different scenarios on how to bring the students back this fall with their main concerns being health.

.

None .

None "we have standards in place that include surveilling, monitoring and testing, and isolation if needed when we expect infections to occur and if they occur on campus."

In order to limit students to potentially being exposed to the virus, the college releasing guidelines that were approved by both the state and suny suny system (full screen) face to face instruction within the classroom will be limited by the college and have a capacity restrictions.

Most classes will be held fully online, others with a mix inperson instruction and remote..

Labs will be held in larger rooms students and staff will be subject to health screenings and everyone on campus will be required to wear a mask when social distancing cannot be possible.

(academic calender fullscreen) the fall semester will start on august 24th and end december 15th.

-no fall break and in person instruction will end at thanksgiving break.

The rest of the semester including finals will be held online.

President morris says their will be alot of change, but says the college has missed its students "with regards to our fall semester we couldn't be more excited to welcome our students back to campus."

Residential life will also look different, the college is closing two of its residence halls for isolation because many students will be solely online, less students will be on campus.

"we believe that education is best served in a face to face and residential experience it's not going to look the same as it has in the past but we think this is a good step forward."> the college is still working on notifying students whether they will be solely online or required to come on campus.

Move in day for on campus students starts on august august 18th and will be spaced out over a few days.

I'll have details on changes to residential life and more coming up at 6.
